Dwi wedi bod yn berson creadigol erioed.

Yn blentyn, ro'n i wrth fy modd gyda gwaith llaw. Ond dewisais ddilyn llwybr hoffter at ddarllen a geiriau, a threuliais flynyddoedd yn ysgrifennu, golygu, cyfieithu a chyflwyno pleser llen a iaith i bobl ifanc.

Yna un dydd, pan syrthiodd popeth i'w le, dyma gyfle i droi nol at yr hen dynfa gelf. Astudiais am radd BA mewn Tecstilau yn Ysgol Gelf Caerfyrddin, a graddio yn 2020.

Dysgais grefft gwehyddu, a chyfuno hyn gyda fy mwynhad o waith llythrennu a lluniadu ar bapur. Dwi'n cael fy nenu at y cyswllt rhwng creu llinellau testun a gosod edafedd anwe yn yr ystof i greu tudalen ysgafn o wead lliw i'w bodio; rhwng raflo ymyl defnydd brau a llawysgrifen fain pry copyn ar ochor tudalen. Mae pethau fel hyn yn cyniweirio rhyw hud i fi. Mae stori yn rhan o wead defnydd.

Dwi'n byw yng ngorllewin Cymru, ar ffin Ceredigion a sir Benfro, lle mae hen linellau tir a mor yr ardal yn awgrymu llu o gysylltiadau eraill hefyd.

Perthyn, geiriau, lleoedd, iaith, edafedd, inc, llythrennau a lliw. Dyma sy'n fy ysbrydoli i.

I have always been a creative person.

As a child, I would be forever making. But I chose to follow the road of my love for words and reading, and spent years writing, editing, translating and teaching the craft of language and literature.

Then one serendipitous day, came the chance to return to that early enjoyment of art. I studied for a BA Textiles Degree at Carmarthen School of Art, graduating in 2020.

I learnt how to weave, and to combine this with my enjoyment of lettering and drawing on paper. I find myself intrigued by the connection between creating lines of text and placing weft threads in the warp to build up a light and tactile page of colour; between the ravelled edges of fraying material and the escaping lines of spidery handwriting in a margin. These things hold an evocative magic for me. Textile is narrative.

I live in west Wales, on the border of Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire, where the old lines of land and coast suggest a myriad other connections too.

Belonging, words, places, language, threads, ink, letterforms, colour. These are my inspirations.
